This sophisticated and strikingly-contemporary lodge is designed as the ideal springboard for exploring the biodiverse world of its reserve. A hideaway in the clouds only accessible to its guests and located on a high plateau, Mashi Lodge features views of the forested mountains on one side and the forest right up close on the other through its floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
Cloud forest reserve location
Mashpi Reserve, a 1,200-hectare (3,000-acre) conservation property located within the Metropolitan District of Quito, forms a part of the Ecuadorian Choco rainforest, known as one of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots. The sudden shift in altitude from 2,800 to 1,000 meters (9,200 to 3,300 feet above sea level) will allow us to discover the spectacular natural diversity of the Andean landscape as we travel through the dry valley of Pomasqui towards the cordillera’s western flank, into lush, misty cloud forest, and enter the magical world of Mashpi.
Contemporary Design in Harmony with nature
The lodge was built with techniques in sustainable buildings, employing hydroelectric power, designed to blend with its surroundings. It features contemporary, minimalist décor, mixing warm earth tones, notes of bright color, clean lines and striking angles and vistas, a luxury cocoon amid the cloudforest, with the natural world just beyond, ideal for contemplation and relaxation.
The lodge’s rooms are spread out across three different floors, all of them designed with floor-to-ceiling windows guaranteeing immersion, no matter the height. Ground-level rooms offer a look into the incredible forest floor, while the mid and high floors offer access to the gorgeous canopy. The rooms’ subdued lights are never jarring, and automatic blinds can be lowered or raised to adjust to natural lighting levels. Sound-proofing technology, as well as humidity and temperature control systems, enables the perfect rest, guaranteed.Â
Mashpi offers fine dining in the forest with fresh Ecuadorian cuisine. The dining room and Explorer’s Bar serve as a towering two-story spectacular space. Fresh and local ingredients are found in our exclusive gourmet dishes all of them accompanied by exquisite wines and cocktails.

Our guests have the opportunity to live between 8 and 10 rainforest experiences on our most popular 3N/4D stay, as well as time to enjoy our wellness offerings. Your guides will recommend the best daily program for you and your group depending on your interests, your level of physical fitness and daily weather and trail conditions. Getting to Mashpi Lodge
Guests who arrive to Quito from the Galapagos late in the afternoon, will need to overnight in Quito and transfer to MASHPI the following day. Â
The lodge provides complimentary transfers from Quito with a pick-up time starting at 8:30AM for guests staying at the Swissotel, JW Marriott, Dann Carlton, Hilton Colon, and Casa Gangotena only. Â
