In December 2019, acclaimed marine biologist Jack Grove hosted two departures on board our luxury Relais & Chateaux yacht Theory. The cruises proved to be highly popular and were a great success, not only for our happy passengers but also from the man himself!
“The two recent trips I did on the Theory were both exceptional, as were the travelers who shared the experience with me. I look forward to future involvement with Ecoventura” Jack told us following the voyages.
We are excited to announce that Jack will be returning to the Galapagos Islands with Ecoventura at the end of 2020 for another two hosted departures on board Theory. Book now to guarantee a cabin!
The dates for the Jack Groves hosted departures for 2020 are:
November 29-06 December (Itinerary B – Northern & Western Route)
December 6-13 (Itinerary A – Southern & Central Route)
Jack Grove has spent much of the past two decades traveling on, and lecturing about, our world’s oceans. He is a leading authority on the fish and marine environments of the eastern tropical Pacific. For seven years he lived in the Galápagos, where he carried out extensive marine biological studies. In 1997, Stanford University Press published his comprehensive volume The Fishes of the Galápagos Islands.
After Jack’s hosted departure at the end of last year, we were delighted to receive the following comments from guest Steve Bramwell about his experience:
“I wanted to personally thank you for everything you did on our Galapagos cruise that turned it from a very special time into a unique time. Your enthusiasm for nature is very compelling and your knowledge and love for fish even more so. Everything about our time on the Theory exceeded my expectations. Thank you for making our time in the Galápagos Islands such a wonderful experience.”
Jack’s 2020 departures will feature both of our itineraries: “A” which cruises the Southern & Central Route through the Galapagos Islands and provides more opportunities to swim and snorkel with sealions and enjoy the Galapagos’ pristine beaches, and “B” which travels the Northern & Western Route, with lava field hikes and several encounters with tortoises. Note however that both itineraries provide ample opportunity to do all of the above.
On the 2019 departures, Jack was asked which itinerary he preferred. “Bottom line; no metaphors … you cannot go wrong with either itinerary” was his reply. If you’re struggling to decide which one is for you, why not do both?
We are honoured and privileged to welcome Jack back to the Galapagos to share his enthusiasm and expert knowledge with our guests. Please do get in touch to book your cabin to join him. We look forward to welcoming you on board.
