Recommend.com – Coffee Time with Industry Vets, Santiago Dunn: “A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Santiago’s fascination with the Galapagos Islands began in the early 1980s when his father entered the tourism industry. After seeing the awestruck faces of tourists visiting the famed archipelago, Santiago knew his future lay in the Islands’ tourism industry. Fortunately for him, the Dunn’s founded Ecoventura in the early 1990s, which Santiago would later purchase (1999) and become sole owner and executive president of (2009). To this day, Santiago is head over heels for the “Enchanted Islands,” and is now passing down his love for the Galapagos, and travel in general, to the next generation, his four children.”
Diver Magazine – The Enchanted Isles’ of the Galapagos: “It’s still early in my weeklong August live-aboard tour on Galapagos Sky, but shocked and awed underwater, I’ve already promised myself that this won’t be my last trip to Las Islas Encantadas, ‘The Enchanted Isles’ of the Galapagos… Straight away we test the waters with a checkout dive at Isla Lobos and are given the perfect introduction to the local life aquatic, courtesy of a boisterous gang of sea lions who immediately take a liking to us.”
Luxury Travel Magazine – Most Exclusive Places to Catch Some Sun This Summer: “With plush settees, bed-sized chaise loungers, hammocks, an outdoor shower, BBQ and a wet bar, the 20-passenger MV Origin takes the sundeck concept to a new level. With room to accommodate just 20-passengers on each of its seven-night departures, this brand new luxury yacht made its debut in the Galapagos earlier this year, changing the way people cruise the Enchanted Islands. Beyond sunbathing, the sundeck offers guests a vantage point from which to view the islands’ unique scenery and topography (though the views are arguably just as good from the staterooms’ panoramic windows). With twice daily excursions that include snorkeling and kayak tours, and face-to-face encounters with marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, sea lions galore and giant land tortoises, MV Origin’s sundeck is the idyllic spot to indulge in some high-end R&R — and stargaze at night.”
Artful Packing List – Galapagos Islands Packing List: “If a trip to the Galapagos Islands isn’t on your bucket list, I highly suggest adding it — then moving it right to the top. Seven nights on MV Origin, a 20-passenger yacht, is once-in-a-lifetime. The thoughtful, eco-driven itinerary boasts a variety of activities and adventures.
Immersion Travel Magazine – Future Feature: Island Hopping in the Galapagos: “By implementing energy efficient technologies on its flagship yachts, Ecoventura was the first operation to reduce its carbon emissions by nearly 100 percent. Wastewater is naturally purified and is discharged a minimum of 12 miles from shore in accordance with the law. When it comes to powering the boats, four stroke engines are used, which consume 50 percent less fuel than two stroke engines. They are also 70 percent quieter and emit almost no fumes. Boats are covered in lead-free paint and exterior walkways are free of varnish. Only biodegradable soaps and detergents are used for cleaning. Recycling receptacles are available on board and waste is sorted and brought to recycling centers on the islands after each trip. Ecoventura has even considered the effect of bug spray and has installed yellow lights on its boats so insects aren’t attracted to the activity. The best part about Ecoventura is that they are just getting started.”
MSN.com – Family Vacation Ideas: 17 Trips to Take Before Your Kids Are All Grown Up:/strong> “One of the best wildlife viewing experiences in the world can be had at the Gálapagos islands. This volcanic archipelago made famous by Charles Darwin is home to blue-footed boobies, giant 100-year-old tortoises, and Christmas iguanas (so named for their festive coloring). Ecoventura cruises takes kids ages seven and up, and the small boat size ensures plenty of special attention for your family.”
