Upon your arrival to Lima, you can expect a seamless transfer with our dedicated reception and assistance.  A short and convenient escorted walk leads you to the Costa del Sol Wyndham Lima Airport. While this hotel is not part of Relais & Châteaux, its location is convenient for late arrival and provides optimum time to rest before your adventure begins

Assistance and a short walk to the airport to board your flight to Cusco on a LATAM flight. Upon arrival, expect a warm reception and effortless transfer to the exquisite Sol y Luna Lodge & Spa, (a proud member of Relais & Châteaux) nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.  Indulge in a two-night stay in Superior-level cozy Casitas, each meticulously designed to draw inspiration from the stone walls of ancient Inca sites.  These accommodations offer more than just a room, they provide a private sanctuary, each one intimately facing the majestic Andes mountains.

Your first stop in the Sacred Valley is at Awanakancha, a weaving project showcasing the craftsmanship of Andean communities. Witness the elegance of the four Camelidae – alpaca, llama, vicuna, and guanaco – and delve into the artistry of their wools through ancestral weaving techniques.  Continue your exploration in the picturesque village of Pisac, where a vibrant handicraft market awaits, offering a kaleidoscope of local creativity.  Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Andean history at the Inkairy Museum, home to impressive displays of pre-Columbian cultures.   The afternoon unfolds at your leisure allowing time to acclimatize to the altitude and the opportunity to relish the amenities of the distinguished Relais & Chateaux property.

Embark on an excursion to Maras, where you’ll witness the enduring marvel of salt mines dating back to the Inca period, still in active use today.  Marvel at the ancient ingenuity that has sustained these salt terraces through centuries.  Continue to Moray, an experimental agricultural center, showcasing the advanced knowledge of the Incas.  Savor a delightful lunch before heading to the captivating fortress and town of Ollantaytambo, the last living Incan town. Wander through the well-preserved streets, admiring the strategic urban planning and mystical energy that emanates from this historical site.  Return to the comfort of the Hotel Sol y Luna for a restful overnight stay.

Transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station to embark on the unforgettable Belmond “Hiram Bingham” train to Machu Picchu.   Revel in a scenic one-and-a-half-hour journey through the breathtaking Urubamba Valley, indulging in delicious snacks amidst breathtaking landscapes.   

Upon arrival in Machu Picchu Pueblo, your adventure continues at archaeological site of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.  Unveil the secrets and stories behind each structure on a private guided tour. The Temple of Sun, the Inti Huatana stone and the Room of the Three Windows come to life as you immerse yourself in the rich narrative of a civilization that thrived in harmony with nature.  The views from the Sun Gate offer a breathtaking perspective of the entire citadel as you traverse the ancient pathways.  It’s impossible not to feel a profound connection to the sacredness of the site. 

As evening descends, return to Cusco on the Belmond Hiram Bingham train, with cocktails and a gourmet dinner served onboard. Relish the indulgent experience, creating memories that will linger long after your return.   Upon arrival at the train station, transfer to the Inkaterra La Casona Hotel (Relais & Châteaux) in Cusco.  This 16th century manor house, situated on the Plaza de la Nazarenas, beckons you into a world where history and luxury intertwine with vibrant cobblestoned streets.  Harmoniously restored, the eleven suites flank a gorgeous central patio, creating a tranquil oasis, fitted with chimneys, heated floors, and extra-large bathtubs.

Explore the captivating city of Cuzco, a city adorned with well-preserved colonial architecture, and steeped in the rich history of being the capital of the Inca Empire.  As the cultural heart of the  indigenous Quechua people in the Andes, Cusco beckons to delve into its profound heritage on a guided private tour.   Your journey begins at the Plaza de Armas, a vibrant main square surrounded by colonial buildings. A visit to the baroque Santo Domingo Convent reveals its unique history, built atop the Incan Temple of the Sun, known as Qoricancha. 

Explore the surrounding ruins of Puka Pukara (red fort), Kenko (Qenko), Tampu Machay, and the colossal fortress and religious site of Sacsayhuaman famous for its cosmic energy.  The afternoon unfolds at your leisure for personal exploration and overnight at Inkaterra La Casona Hotel.

Transfer to the airport in Cusco for a flight to Lima on LATAM. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to settle into the refined luxury of Hotel B (Relais & Châteaux). Let the artistic vibe of El Barranco, Lima’s bohemian arts district create an unforgettable experience.  Hotel B is a lovingly restored colonial mansion, creating a haven of tranquility in this vibrant area. You’ll encounter a calming oasis with comfortable guest rooms, a rooftop deck with full bar, well-stocked library, and a cozy living room.

At 2PM, tour some of Lima’s main colonial sites:  The Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, Government and Archbishop Palaces.  We also visit the private Larco Museum with a unique gold and silver collection, pottery vessels and erotic ceramics from pre-Inca civilizations.  Drive through Lima’s modern residential areas: San Isidro and Miraflores with its “Parque del Amor” and ocean views.  Transfer to the airport for your flight if you are booked on a red-eye or to the hotel if your flight departs on Saturday morning.
