SPECIALTY DEPARTURES

Scuba Diving

There are few places on earth where visitors can experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with such a bewildering array of animals as the Galapagos Islands.

Diving in Galapagos

For many, one of the things that truly distinguishes the Galapagos is the underwater wildlife; the waters around the islands are renowned for offering some of the most exceptional diving experiences worldwide. Multiple shark species, a vast array of tropical fish and rays, as well as whale sharks, sea turtles, and marine iguanas, are all commonly sighted when exploring the seas here.

Diving Options

Guests aboard our expedition cruises have various options for diving:

  1. Diving at Puerto Ayora: On the day our yacht is docked in Santa Cruz, guests can arrange to scuba dive with a local dive shop. We are pleased to offer transportation to and from the dive shop. Please note that guests opting for this option will miss the visit to the Darwin Station and tortoise reserve in the highlands scheduled for that day.
  2. Pre or Post-Cruise Diving: Before or after your week-long itinerary, you can stay at a hotel in Santa Cruz or San Cristobal and arrange day trips for diving with a local dive shop.
  3. Extended Trip: Consider booking a two-week trip, which includes adding one week on our dive liveaboard, the Galapagos Sky, to maximize your time exploring the underwater wonders of the Galapagos.
